Sleep for Health & Weight Loss

An on-line article from The New York Times reminds us of the importance of a good night’s sleep.  In this case, for controlling your weight.  Here is a link to the article:  http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/27/health/27real.html?nl=health&emc=healthupdateemb4

Personally, I take Te Ame’ Stress Manager so I can avoid looking at the clock from 3AM to 4:30AM.  I have been told by a sleep expert that I am waking up due to early morning anxiety.  She said that the natural cortisol control action of WellGen® theaflavin-enriched black tea extract is what helps me get an uninterrupted sleep.  Maybe that is helping me keep my weight down too.

Attention Weekend Warriors: “Get Your Active Body”

Spring has sprung and that means lots more activity outside.  A change of season means a change of pace.  A change of pace requires adjustments to routine and can require some physical adjustments as well.

With each new season our family picks a new activity to do together.  It keeps us centered, together, and hopefully healthy and strong.  In the winter, we went ice skating most weekends.  Now we are debating between roller skating, tennis and golf.  Whatever we do, I am sure to have a bit of stiffness as my muscles get adjusted to the new activity.  Especially when I forget to stretch and don ‘t want to use those smelly muscle rubs, I am releived to have Te Ame’ nearby.

Happy spring!

Active Bodies Are Shoveling Today

This morning there was lots of e-mail chatter about the snow here in New Jersey.  We all agreed to play it safe and stay off the roads.  We’ll also be shoveling and hopefully getting some time to play in the snow too.  Our chief scientist reminded us all to take Active Body for those stiff muscles on snowy evenings.  I know she will be taking Active Body for relief from cross-country skiing and shoveling.

For muscle stiffness

For muscle stiffness

Active Body is just as good for snow shovelers as it is for our impressive friends who ride across Iowa for charity or participate in triathlons.  Use Active Body as a natural alternative to help soothe your body when your muscles need comfort after cross a big snow.

Is ibuprofen good for exercise?

A recent post on The New York Times web site about how ibuprofen is consumed by many athletes at all levels, across many sports reported the doubt about whether it helps and that it possibly could hurt.

This reminds me of a one-time natural product skeptic.  She was taking ibuprofen to stop her shoulder pain from playing tennis.  The shoulder pain persisted despite the regimen of IB.  She gave up on the ibruprofen and tried our Active Body formula.  The skeptic became a supporter.

Our tennis playing friend stands along side our bike riding fans and Adriano - our triathlete in testifying to the clinically tested benefits of Te Amé™ Active Body.

Breaking News Says Tea Consumers May Have Younger Biological Age

The polyphenols in tea may be responsible for a longer life. A study in Hong Kong showed that people who consumed more tea had longer telomeres than people who consumed less tea. According the study scientists, telomeres (DNA strands at the end of chromosomes that get shorter as cells age) are responsible for biological ageing. Other studies have tested the hypothesis of telomeres and have shown modest improvements in years of healthy life although no impact on survival or avoidance of diseases in older people.longevitea5

I’ll take “improvements in years of healthy life”. So I’ll keep drinking tea and taking my daily dose of Te Ame’ Stress Manager with WellGen theaflavin-enriched extract with 70% polyphenols.

Stress Manager on Twitter

We created Te Amé™ Stress Manager to help reduce stress but I have been so impressed by the effect that it has had on the quality of my sleep that I started a Twitter account for Stress Manager http://twitter.com/StressManager.   I am tweeting about how well I sleep and noting if I have taken my mid-afternoon dose or not.

Sleep is so important and in more ways than we think.  There are clinical studies that show impacts on blood pressure, weight management, and control of blood sugar.  Those are all important aspects of my personal health and wellness. But my loyalty to Te Amé™ is rewarded each morning that I wake up ready to take on another day as mom, wife, employee, daughter, friend…

There is lots of great information about sleep on the web site for the National Sleep Foundation, check out: http://www.sleepfoundation.org/myths-and-facts-about-sleep

Stressful – Not MY Children

Since I’ve had kids, I’ve tried lots of ways to manage stress.  Don’t get me wrong, my kids are not the sole source of my stress but I sure did notice I had much more stress since they came along.  Maybe because I began to think about my health more or because I just got to that age when things started sliding (or should I say sagging).  Then about a year after my younger son was born, I was diagnosed with hypertension (high blood pressure).

It was hard to admit that in my early forties, I had a chronic health problem – I always thought of my self as being pretty healthy.  So I got more vigilant about trying to reduce stress, along with weight, sodium and anything else that might cause my numbers to go up.  When deprivation tactics didn’t work, I tried fish oil supplements, high pectin foods, mediation, yoga, a device called Resperate(R), a chiropractic type treatment called Network Spinal analysis, and more,  I believe that all of these things were helpful, but I had to begin taking a prescription pharmaceutical or risk more serious issues.  However, I didn’t abandon my wellness practices.  I really believe that because of that attitude I can break the pills in half to take half of the lowest does of my medication available by prescription.

So I continue to look for natural ways to help keep my medication dose low and to reduce stress – I would love to hear your ideas about how to enhance my quality of life.  There lots of advice from health expert but practical advice from people who relate to my life and stress is priceless.
