Stressful – Not MY Children

Since I’ve had kids, I’ve tried lots of ways to manage stress.  Don’t get me wrong, my kids are not the sole source of my stress but I sure did notice I had much more stress since they came along.  Maybe because I began to think about my health more or because I just got to that age when things started sliding (or should I say sagging).  Then about a year after my younger son was born, I was diagnosed with hypertension (high blood pressure).

It was hard to admit that in my early forties, I had a chronic health problem – I always thought of my self as being pretty healthy.  So I got more vigilant about trying to reduce stress, along with weight, sodium and anything else that might cause my numbers to go up.  When deprivation tactics didn’t work, I tried fish oil supplements, high pectin foods, mediation, yoga, a device called Resperate(R), a chiropractic type treatment called Network Spinal analysis, and more,  I believe that all of these things were helpful, but I had to begin taking a prescription pharmaceutical or risk more serious issues.  However, I didn’t abandon my wellness practices.  I really believe that because of that attitude I can break the pills in half to take half of the lowest does of my medication available by prescription.

So I continue to look for natural ways to help keep my medication dose low and to reduce stress – I would love to hear your ideas about how to enhance my quality of life.  There lots of advice from health expert but practical advice from people who relate to my life and stress is priceless.
